It’s no secret that Apple Maps is less than stellar, lagging behind Google Maps since its inception in 2012. Apple’s Eddy Cue revealed to TechCrunch that his team has spent the past four years overhauling Maps from the ground up. Soon you’ll see the results, starting with the California Bay Area in the next iOS 12 beta. The new Maps will be richer and more accurate, based on data collected both by Apple Maps vans and from users’ iPhones. As always, privacy is a top priority for Apple, and the company has made significant efforts to maintain the privacy of users.
