This group found out that looking as good as Dolly Parton takes more dedication than a “9 to 5” job.
A whole tribe of people in Kerry, Ireland, donned their biggest, blondest wigs and dusted off their cowboy boots to set the record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Dolly Parton.
A whopping 959 people dressed up as the iconic country singer for an event dubbed Dollyday Listowel.
The event’s chairperson, Cora O’Brien, led a team of 13 people dedicated to breaking the record to raise funds for local cancer charities The Kerry Hospice Foundation and Comfort For Chemo Kerry.
Cora explained: “The money raised will stay in our county and help people locally that need this service.
“The foundation has been instrumental in offering medical treatment, compassion, and dignity to those who are in the final stages of their life, some of us on the committee have witnessed this care first-hand and have had family members use this service.
“Comfort for Chemo Kerry‘s aim is to build and equip a state-of-the-art purpose-built chemotherapy unit for the people of Kerry.”
She added: “The choice to organize Dollyday as a charity event to benefit these charities is rooted in the shared values of compassion, community, and support for those who need it.
“These charities have a personal aspect for most of us involved in the committee and are close to our hearts.”
Almost 1,000 people got on board with the message, with men and women of all ages – the oldest was 93! – donning their best Dolly costumes to join in the fun.
But why did they choose Dolly?
We choose Dolly for a number of reasons; initially as we love her music, she is an icon, and is celebrated widely and we wanted to honour and celebrate her in our way. – Cora
“We felt it would be fun and would create a sense of excitement to dress up like Dolly. Her music is known worldwide, and she has a larger-than-life personality. Dolly is an inspiration and has many philanthropic endeavours.”
Listowel, where the event was held, is known for writers including Bryan MacMahon and John B. Keane, and the town holds a Writers’ Week each year to celebrate its literary achievements.
That provided another tie to Dolly, whose Imagination Library gifts books to children to inspire them to read more.
Cora added: “Dressing up as Dolly created a sense of excitement and creativity, it brought smiles, laughter and a sense of joy while also raising funds and awareness for the charities.”
The costumes on display ranged from more casual double denim looks to full on glamour, with some even giving a nod to the singer’s famous Playboy cover.
Cora said: “While I can’t predict Dolly Parton‘s personal reactions, based on her public persona, and known values, it’s likely that she would react positively to photos of people dressed up like her for a world record.”
Cora and her team spread the word for the attempt across social media and with online campaigns asking people to get involved, and were delighted to see how many people turned up.
The event was even attended by Eugene Naughton, President of the Dollywood Company, and got attention from media around the world.
A busker was on hand to sing some of Dolly’s biggest hits and people even rode through the town on horseback while dressed as the singer.
People also enjoyed some line dancing before gathering together for an emotional dove release ceremony, with birds representing lost loved ones and those currently going through cancer treatment.
Cora and her team previously set the record for largest gathering of people dressed as nuns with 1,436 people donning habits for Nunday Listowel in 2012.
She says the people of the town could have one more record in them but admits she’s not sure how they’d follow up an icon like Dolly.
“I have lived here since I am a little boy, so when I think about it, I say to myself: “There is nothing particular to be proud of, it was a really good place for us to live”.
McDonald’s Jr.
Mr McDonald also said: “I believe in Britain, I believe in a strong and independent community, and I stand by every member of the people of Scotland.
What is their defense?
“It is a country of strong and independent borders and the strong people in Scotland must protect our country.”
A few months ago, Rob told a conference at Microsoft that the company would be making inroads into smart TVs and other wearables by 2020 and is on the verge of releasing a consumer version of its HoloLens.
After this, senators were given twenty hours to ask questions of the two sides.
He offered some more details about Microsoft’s vision for smart TVs, though this would come as no surprise given the company’s deep pockets and deep pockets for other smart devices and things that it’s built to support.

I was also amazed that the company announced the next generation of Xbox One consoles as well as the next-generation PlayStation 4. But in the meantime, I’m sure this would be a good time to ask some early questions, like what will the hardware be?

You know, the Xbox One is currently in development at Microsoft, so I have no idea what it is doing so far.
The president did not respond to Trump’s appeal.
Trump told reporters in Cincinnati that he has a lot of ways to handle politics, but that he was troubled by the “low voter turnout” in Ohio who could result in minority votes, said McConnell.
“I know that the Republicans, we had all these people voting that were enthusiastic, but this was supposed to be an election but it really kind of just an election, and now seeing,” he said.
After all, if I have glasses, I would be in love.
What has been the Democrats’ case?
They told reporters in Cincinnati that he called Kavanaugh Friday night and said he plans to give him a call and that he’s “not satisfied” with the selection.

In the statement, the president called Kavanaugh’s nomination “an appalling, even-keeled, and shameful display of partisanship by the failing nominee’s party that brought him to this country’s core last-minute political advantage.”

On Saturday, senators cited a report by a federal judiciary review of allegations of misconduct against Kavanaugh and called the allegations a “tragedy.”
Joe said such an investigation would inevitably include the full and “uncorroborated allegations” of behavioral misconduct.

To its detractors, love at first sight must be an illusion – the wrong term for what is simply infatuation, or a way to sugarcoat lust.

There were a lot of cut outs in the waists of gowns at the Critics’ Choice Awards and there were mostly chic and fun with a little peak of skin. This is not a little peak.

The Misinformation Threat

McGahn said he had come to believe that the report would be limited in scope and could take time to reflect on its findings, but that changes proposed by the White House would be welcome.
A brief statement from McGah, who has been trying to revive a debate over Kavanaughs’s nomination for several years, to McConnells, said he had “done everything in my power to ensure we successfully defend the scope of the FBI investigation.”
Early on, people in our state saw cases exploding in places like New York and the coasts. It seemed like it was a problem.

Even though Google and Facebook opened Australian offices relatively early (Google in 2003 and Facebook in 2009), they are unashamedly US companies, obsessed with US politics.
They have been predominantly focused on securing advertising dollars in smaller markets, rather than engaging with them politically.
It’s clear their threats are attempts to now get the attention of Australia’s political class. And if the platforms follow through.
Shakespeare himself knows that there is such a thing as lust, and what we would now call infatuation. He’s no fool. People who exhibit the perfectionism are fearful of failure.
