சென்னையில் கட்டட கழிவுகளில் இருந்து மணல் உற்பத்தி
தமிழகத்திலேயே முதல் முறையாக கட்டிட கழிவுகளில் இருந்து மணல் உற்பத்தியை சென்னை மாநகராட்சி துவங்கியுள்ளது. சென்னை மாநகராட்சியில் சேகரிக்கும் கட்டட கழிவுகளை, பெருங்குடி மற்றும் கொடுங்கையூரில் நாள் ஒன்றுக்கு தலா ஆயிரம் டன் அளவில் மறுசுழற்சி செய்யும் வகையில் இரண்டு பிளான்ட்டுகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. கட்டட கழிவுகள் எடுத்துச் செல்லப்படும் ஒரு டன்னுக்கு 2 ஆயிரத்து 500 ரூபாய் என மொத்தம் மூவாயிரத்து 300 ரூபாய் கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கப்படும் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும், கடந்த மூன்று மாதத்தில் 98 ஆயிரம் டன் கட்டிட கழிவுகள் சேகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த மணலுக்கு சென்னை ஐஐடி அங்கீகாரம் கொடுத்துள்ளதாகவும் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
