2025 Budget | Godongwana to re-table budget on 21st May 2025
“Until the new budget is passed, government services will continue to be funded under section 29 of the Public Finance Management Act”.
This is according to the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana. He addressed the media yesterday and also confirmed that the National Treasury will re-table the 2025 Budget Review on the 21st of May 2025.
This follows the Western Cape High Court’s judgment for the reversal of the 0.5 percent Value Added Tax rate increase.
The 2025 National budget was presented by the Minister of Finance in March, after it was first postponed in February.
To talk more about what is likely to be cut in an effort to make up for the R75 billion budget shortfall, we are joined virtually by Professor Alex van den Heever, Adjunct Professor, Wits School of Governance.
