The Akwa Ibom State government has introduced a policy requiring health workers to sign a bond committing to serve in the state for a set period.
This move aims to curb the exodus of medical professionals, commonly referred to as ‘japa.’
Under the policy, health workers must take an oath and enter into a contract binding them to serve within the state for a specified duration.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to retain medical personnel and stabilize the healthcare system.
The move reflects Akwa Ibom’s proactive approach to tackling the growing concern of healthcare worker migration in Nigeria.
Damilola Adeniyi Adegeye, daughter of juju legend King Sunny Ade, has accused her stepbrother Dayo of holding the 78-year-old singer hostage.
In a series of Instagram Story posts, Damilola alleged that Dayo, described as Sunny Ade’s manager, “kidnapped” him with the help of his mother, brothers Demola and Kenny, and their driver.
She claimed the singer’s whereabouts remain unknown and accused Dayo of misleading the family.
Damilola, based in the UK, also alleged that Dayo is forcing Sunny Ade to work under duress without sharing the financial benefits with the family.
She has called on Nigerian police to intervene and urged the public not to book the singer for any events.
As of the time of this report, Dayo has not publicly responded to the allegations.
