Albanese government to pursue environmental agency ‘with teeth’
Environment and Water Minister Murray Watt claims Australia needs an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “with teeth”.
“We did go to the election committing and recommitting, in fact, to having an independent EPA, and we need such a body with teeth to be able to assist in protecting our environment,” he told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“But in terms of the details around the model of that, that is something that I’ll be consulting on.
“I think it’s a little premature for me to be making those kinds of decisions before I’ve had an opportunity to meet with a range of interest groups on this.”
