"Astonishing And RIDICULOUS!" | Pensioners' Winter Fuel Cuts Spent On Migrant Accommodation
The costs of migrant accommodation has wiped out the savings the Government will gain from cuts to winter fuel payments, official figures have shown.
Providing housing for asylum seekers over the decade leading to 2029 is projected to exceed £15 billion, which breaks down to more than £4 million daily and is three times higher than the Home Office’s original projections, based on an analysis by the National Audit Office (NAO), the fiscal oversight body.
This increase is driven by a rise in asylum seekers residing in taxpayer-supported housing, following unprecedented numbers of illegal migrants making their way across the Channel. This situation directly corresponds to the yearly savings of £1.65 billion that the Government expects to achieve from the cuts to winter fuel payments.
Talk’s Mike Graham is joined by Steven Woolfe from the Centre of Migration and Prosperity to discuss.
