‘Attempts to advance and inflict losses’: Russia accused of breaking Easter ceasefire
Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of breaking a surprise Easter ceasefire announced by President Vladimir Putin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claims the Russian army is creating the general impression of a truce but is continuing its attacks.
Russia’s defence ministry says its units have observed the ceasefire and claims Ukraine fired 48 drones into Russia.
“There were 387 shellings and 19 assault actions by the Russian army. Russians used drones 290 times,” Mr Zelensky said in a statement.
“We can say that the Russian army is trying to create the general impression of a ceasefire, but in some areas, it continues attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine.
“Russia must fully comply with the ceasefire terms. Ukraine’s proposal to implement and extend the ceasefire for 30 days remains in effect. We will act according to the real situation.”
