Australians hungry for more ‘detail’ and ‘debate’ in politics
Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the Australian people have a hunger and an openness for “a little bit more detail” in their political discourse.
Mr Canavan on Friday confirmed he will run for Nationals leader when the party room meets on Monday in Canberra amid Jacinta Price’s defection to the Liberals.
“A little bit more of a conversation and a debate rather than just a focus on the 10 second soundbites which may have worked really well 20 years ago from a political tactical point of view,” Mr Canavan said.
