‘Awkward moments’ as Mark Carney rebuffs Trump’s push to make Canada the 51st state
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has told Donald Trump that Canada is not for sale during a face-to-face meeting with the US President at the White House.
The moment occurred during Mr Carney’s visit to Washington, just one week after assuming office.
CNN reporter Paula Newton joined Sky News Australia to discuss the meeting between the two leaders.
“There were certainly moments where it was awkward, no question, especially with all the discussion about the 51st state,” Ms Newton said.
