Budget Speech 3.0 I Fuel levy increase raises concerns
Experts are warning of looming inflationary pressures, as the Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana ditches a VAT increase, for an increase in fuel levies.
The minister finally tabled the budget speech in Parliament yesterday, where he announced a 15 and 16 cents increase in the fuel levy, which was last seen in 2022.
These changes will result in the increase in the general fuel levy for petrol and diesel to R4 rand and 1 cent per litre, and R3 rand 85 cents per liter, respectively, effective from 4 June 2025.
