Carney questioned by Conservatives about decision to delay federal budget
As Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was grilled for the first time in question period in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Conservative MPs demanded answers over his decision to delay the release of the federal budget until the fall.
“If he’s the man with a plan and the guy you hire in a crisis, why won’t he table a spring budget before he goes on summer vacation,” asked interim opposition leader Andrew Scheer.
Carney defended his position, saying Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre had also not outlined in his plan for his first 100 days in office to release a budget.
The prime minister said he was focused on nation-building projects that would help grow the Canadian economy.
