China’s ‘upper hand’ in trade negotiations with the United States
Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney claims China has “a little bit of an upper hand” in the trade negotiations with America.
“I think the Chinese can put their people through more deprivation domestically than we can here, so actually the Chinese have a little bit of an upper hand in the negotiations from that standpoint,” he told Sky News Australia.
“I don’t think that means they have an upper hand across all of the negotiations, but at least on how much pain can you put your own people through – the Chinese clearly can do it.”
