City denies illegally demolishing Dunoon homes
Dunoon informal settlement residents took to the streets, accusing the City of Cape Town of unlawfully demolishing their structures. Two weeks ago, a brick house was destroyed and on Monday, three walls of a home were demolished for failing to comply with the city’s building code. This sparked violent protests in the neighbourhood. City officials, however,r maintain that the decision was taken after residents failed to obey a high court order and residents were informed well in advance. eNCA’s Nobesuthu Hejana reports.
