Coalition proposes increased work hours for foreign students
The Coalition has announced plans to allow international students to work 60 hours a fortnight, instead of the maximum 48 hours.
The proposed change is expected to generate an additional $417 million in tax revenue under a Dutton government.
Universities have expressed concern this will cause more non-genuine students to apply to study in Australia as a way of entering the job market.
Labor has criticised the proposal, describing it as “bizarre”.
