Concerns over military budget continue
As the Finance Minister is set to deliver his 3rd Budget speech this week, concerns over the country’s military budget continue. The deaths of 14 South African National Defence Force soldiers earlier this year in clashes between DRC forces and M23 rebels follow years of warnings from civil groups, unions, and political organisations about the SANDF’s declining capacity, due to budget cuts.
