Conservatives suffer major losses in 2025 local elections
The Conservative party had been focused on managing expectations ahead of the 2025 local elections, repeatedly warning that the outcome was likely to be challenging.
Their concerns were realised as the party lost control of 13 of the 23 councils contested, marking a significant blow to their standing in local politics.
Party leader Kemi Badenoch acknowledged the result, stating that the country is “not yet ready to trust” the Conservatives.
