King Charles, in his Easter message, praised the compassion found in Judaism, Islam, and other faiths, saying the world most needs “love.”
At Durham Cathedral, he and Queen Camilla took part in the Maundy Thursday tradition, giving coins to 76 men and 76 women for their service to others.
He reflected on Jesus’ act of washing his disciples’ feet as a symbol of love and humility, linking it to values shared across religions.
The King also honored humanitarian workers and spoke of the contrast between human cruelty and kindness.
After the service, he joked with well-wishers and viewed the Magna Carta, while a small anti-monarchy protest took place outside.
