Director of Menendez brothers documentary on whether he thinks they're innocent ahead of new hearing
Lyle Menendez, 56, and his brother Erick, 53, are currently serving life in prison without parole.
Aged just 21 and 18 at the time they fatally shot their parents in the family home, the brothers long argued that they were physically, emotionally and sexually abused as children, prompting the killings.
They say they feared their parents would kill them, to cover up the abuse.
A two day hearing begins on Thursday to determine whether they may be eligible for a lesser sentence.
ITV News has spoken to Alejandro Hartmann, the director of the critically acclaimed documentary ‘The Menendez Brothers’, about what it was like to getting to know the brothers and whether he thinks they’re innocent.
