Disarmed DRC soldiers and police relocated
The United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the International Committee of the Red Cross have started evacuating hundreds of disarmed Congolese soldiers and police officers who’ve been sheltering at a UN base in the eastern city of Goma. The soldiers sought refuge at the UN base in January this year after the city fell into the hands of the M23 rebels. Their withdrawal comes three days after troops from the Southern African Development Community began pulling out of eastern DRC.
