E-hailing operators in Mthatha accuse police of failing to protect them
E-hailing operators in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape have accused the police of failing to protect them.
This as tensions continue to rise between minibus taxis and e-hailing operators.
The Mthatha E-Hailing Organisation says its drivers face constant victimisation, assault and extortion for operating in the city. It says their vehicles are taken by taxi operators, and they are forced to pay up to R2 000 before they are released.
The organisation says numerous cases have been opened, but there have been no arrests or progress.
