Easter records lowest crashes, fatalities in 3 years
Transport Minister Barbara Creecy says the 2025 Easter period had a low number of crashes.
She says there has been a decrease in fatalities in all the provinces, except in Mpumalanga. 941 drivers were arrested over the Easter weekend for drinking and driving.
Creecy says they are hoping by 2029, there will be a 50% decrease in crashes and fatalities.
She expressed gratitude to every law official and MEC in the provinces who worked efficiently during the Easter period.
The Transport Minister briefed the media in Pretoria to release the Easter Weekend road safety report.
