Reform UK has vowed to block net zero projects in the countryside, calling them “terrible ideas.”
Deputy leader Richard Tice said the party will use its control of 10 councils to fight renewable developments, starting with warning letters to developers in Lincolnshire.
“This is war,” he said. “If you try this in Lincolnshire, you’ll waste your money.”
Elsewhere, Dame Mary Archer has been sacked from Ed Miliband’s net zero department, in what critics call a move to silence dissent.
The 80-year-old, wife of Lord Archer, was removed suddenly on Friday – days after Sir Tony Blair slammed the Government’s net zero plan as unworkable.
Dame Mary is said to share Blair’s concerns and had reported directly to Miliband.
