COSATU has rejected the notion that it is caught between a rock and a hard place within the tripartite Alliance. The labour federation must pronounce on the thorny issue of which of its alliance partners -the ANC or SACP, it will back in next year’s polls. Whilst its various affiliates are still tasked with this matter, NEHAWU and NUM are considering throwing their weight behind the SACP. However, the Central Executive Committee of COSATU, which is the highest decision-making body in between congresses, will only make a decision in September.
