Europe has been named the fastest-warming continent in the world by a major annual report.
From wildfires in Portugal, to floods in Spain and glaciers melting in Svalbard, Europe faced a 2024 of extreme weather and its hottest year on record.
The report by the Copernicus Institute and the World Meteorological Organisation found that Europe is one of the regions with the largest projected increase in flood risk, and a global warming of 1.5C could result in 30,000 annual deaths in Europe due to extreme heat.
