European Union seeking to deepen military ties with Australia
The European Union is seeking to deepen military ties with Australia with a proposed defence pact.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed the proposal in Rome.
The partnership seeks to match other defence deals, which allow nations to work closely on intelligence and joint military exercises.
Ms von der Leyen declared the global security outlook as a main focus, as Australia pledges ongoing support for Ukraine, including the delivery of tanks.
