Family of man who died after wandering from Ottawa retirement home raises concerns about system gaps
In early February — a frigid winter day in Ottawa — the family of 80-year-old Michael Faucette, who was living with dementia, says he left the Foxview Retirement Community facility alone.
Months prior, Faucette’s family had met with Foxview and expressed concern about his frequent falls and cognitive decline.
They inquired about moving Faucette from assisted living to the memory floor for additional security but their analysis was that he wouldn’t be a flight risk according to Faucette’s family.
