Russian Z-publics reported that Putin’s army allegedly fought off attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of Novy Put and Volfino in kursk region. Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War analyzed the latest news from Kursk region, where the fighting is not dying down, but is flaring up with renewed vigor.
Russian war correspondents write that fighting is currently taking place in the area of the Tetkino railway station. At the same time, some Russian publics claim that two streets in the southwest of Tetkino are under the control of Ukrainian forces. However, analysts from ISW were unable to confirm or deny these statements. Z-channels write that units of the 83rd airborne brigade, the 217th and 56th airborne regiments are taking part in the battles for Tetkino. Ukrainian forces continue to carry out artillery and air strikes, and also actively use drones to isolate enemy troops defending Tetkino. Geolocated footage from May 6 showed Ukrainian Armed Forces striking enemy positions with JDAM munitions in the area of the Tetkino railway station. Russian war correspondents continue to claim that Ukrainian forces are using drones and artillery to strike Russian land lines of communication in order to isolate Russian units near Tetkino. Z-channels also write that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, using drones, completely control one of the sections on the 38K-040 Tetkino – Karyzh highway.
Recall, Ukrainian Air Force confirmed a successful strike on a Russian UAV command post in the Tyotkino area of the Kursk region, where crews who deploy unmanned reconnaissance and strike drones were based. As a result of the strike, up to 20 enemy combatants were eliminated and their equipment was destroyed. The Russian Federation announced a sudden evacuation of residents from the Kursk region in response to the Ukrainian offensive. However, the Ukrainian side has not yet officially confirmed the advance of its forces in this direction. Nevertheless, the data on the new offensive is supported by the Ukrainian OSINT project Deep State: On its map, certain areas of the Kursk region along the border with Ukraine in the Tyotkino area are marked as gray zones, indicating an area of unknown military control.
Meanwhile, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky noted that the Kursk operation has achieved most of its set goals. The Ukrainian military’s active presence in the region has made it possible to prevent Russian offensive campaigns in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
