Freedom Day 2025 | Many children facing violations of their rights
As the country marks 31 years of freedom and democracy, the plight of children is under sharp focus amid growing injustices against children in the country. Activists say South Africa’s freedom can’t be truly celebrated while many children are living in poverty, are unsafe, and have no equal access to education and other opportunities. The widespread incidents of violence against children, especially sexual violence, remain the biggest concern.
