Gas price surge triggers factory closures and job losses
Energy and gas analyst Saul Kavonic discusses the widespread factory shutdowns driven by soaring gas prices, warning of the thousands of jobs being lost as a result.
“It’s now a few thousand blue-collar jobs that have been lost in those high-profile closures you mentioned, including Qenos, Oceania Glass over the last 18 months,” Mr Kavonic told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“What’s actually more worrying is these are only the plants closing that are making the headlines – what we’re seeing is hundreds of other smaller manufacturing facilities around the country shutting down.
“Those blue-collar jobs are dying in silence.”
