Global peace 80 years after WWII: Continuity or change?
Chinese President Xi Jinping is on a state visit to Russia this week and attended the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War. This year also commemorates the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. What was China’s pivotal role in the Eastern theater of World War II? Why do stable China-Russia ties matter in today’s world? What valuable lessons can we learn from history to safeguard global peace and stability today? CGTN Radio’s Xu Yawen spoke with Chen Weihua, chief of the China Daily EU Bureau, Evgenii Pavlov, a reporter from Sputnik News Agency based in Beijing, and Angelo Giuliano, an Italian political analyst, to have an in-depth discussion on these topics.
