Police Minister Senzo Mchunu attended the bail hearing of a man charged with a harrowing case of Gender-Based Violence in the Maswazini area in KwaZulu-Natal.
The man faces a charge of assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and attempted murder.
It’s alleged that two weeks ago, the accused attacked his ex-girlfriend by gouging both of her eyes with a screwdriver. The woman, who is in critical condition, is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Mchunu says the man must not be granted bail as he does not deserve it.
Meanwhile, the Richmond community has handed a memorandum to the Minister detailing their grievances.
