Cheek Media chief executive and host of the Big Small Talk podcast Hannah Ferguson addressed the National Press Club today calling the media’s use of the word influencer as a “gendered critique.”
In her speech, Ferguson warned generalising female podcasters as unserious and surface level was dangerous.
“They want to invalidate and undermine a group of powerful young women who developed the ability to communicate with audiences in a way that traditional media can’t.”
