The 2025 IIHF Women’s Ice Hockey World Championship Division I event kicks off on Sunday at the Universiade Sports Center in Shenzhen. The week-long tournament brings together around 350 athletes, coaches, referees, and staff from 6 nations: China, Denmark, France, Austria, Slovakia, and the Netherlands.
This year’s championship marks another milestone for China in hosting international winter sporting events, following the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the 2025 Asian Winter Games. It is also the second consecutive year that Shenzhen has hosted the ice hockey event.
