The Home Office is asking landlords to house asylum seekers after a surge in Channel crossings.
Contractor Serco is offering landlords five-year guaranteed rent deals, funded by taxpayers, and says it already houses over 30,000 asylum seekers in over 7,000 properties.
The push comes as migrant arrivals hit new records, sparking anger ahead of local elections, with Labour accused of putting migrants before British families.
