Joshlin Smith trial | Closing arguments in Joshlin Smith kidnapping case continue
The lawyer representing accused number one in the Joshlin Smith kidnapping and human trafficking case, Jacquen Appollis has argued that the state is basing its case on the evidence of Lourentia Lombaard.
Closing arguments commenced today in the high court sitting in Saldanha on the West Coast.
Fannie Harmse told the court that there were discrepancies and contradictions in the statement given by Lombard.
Lombard is the former accused who turned state’s witness.
She testified that Kelly Smith told her that she sold Joshlin to a sangoma for R20,000.
The state has described this as the first case of its kind in South Africa, with the main source of information or the most important witness, Joshlin, still missing.
