“Kent Police Should Apologise Unreservedly” Says Shadow Home Secretary Over Kent Police Arrest
A retired special constable was arrested at home by six Kent Police officers over a social media post warning about anti-Semitism.
Julian Foulkes, 71, had challenged a pro-Palestinian supporter on X. Police searched his home, seized devices, and questioned him over books by Douglas Murray and issues of The Spectator, calling them “very Brexity things.” They also flagged a shopping list written by his wife.
Foulkes said, “Free speech is clearly under attack,” warning that the public should be alarmed.
The case follows other controversial police actions, including a visit to Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson over a similar post. Officers also went through Foulkes’s personal items, including clippings from his daughter’s tragic death in 2009.
Peter Cardwell speaks with Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Philps MP.
