Kevin Hogan optimistic about future Coalition despite split
Nationals Deputy Leader Kevin Hogan has expressed hope for a future reunion between the Liberal and National parties, following the Nationals’ decision to take a stand on what he described as “principled” grounds.
It comes as the federal Liberal and National parties have failed to reach a new Coalition agreement.
“A lot of our members are going to lose positions, titles, and money out of this. But that wasn’t the focus. This was about principle,” Mr Hogan said.
“We are always best as a country with a strong Coalition. I hope my wish in the future is that it is going to happen again sooner rather than later, but we needed to make, for us, a principled stand on things today that we could not move on.”
