King Charles to personally deliver Canada’s throne speech in face of Trump annexation threats
On Friday, in an Ottawa press conference, newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney revealed that at his request, King Charles III will open Canada’s parliament on May 27, joined by the Queen. King Charles will personally read the Speech from the Throne, usually read by the Governor General of Canada. It will be the first time a sovereign has opened Canada’s Parliament since 1977 when King Charles III’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, did so.
