At least 50 homes have been damaged and some have collapsed following last week’s rain in KwaZulu-Natal.
The provincial government says it plans to evacuate over 1000 residents in Umlazi’s H section as the area is unsafe.
The homes are built on a slope and are at risk of potential landslides.
The displaced families have received temporary shelter with government officials pledging support for their long-term relief
