Labor National Secretary grilled over party's controversial campaign ads
Labor National Secretary Paul Erickson has been grilled during the National Press Club on Wednesday about whether Labor’s political ads used in the federal election campaign would have been outlawed if truth in political advertising laws existed.
Mr Erickson doubled down on the party’s controversial campaign ads, warning that Peter Dutton could cut healthcare funding, saying the party was “completely comfortable” with its claims.
“You’ve got to get the balance right, and you don’t want to end up having a dampening effect and actually having some perverse consequences where you start stifling free speech or participation in politics and campaigns,” he said.
