Labor on track to retain government, new poll reveals
Labor is poised to hold onto government this weekend as it maintains an advantage against the Coalition in the polls.
Labor’s primary vote has increased one per cent since the last poll, while the Opposition is down two per cent, leaving both major parties tied at 34 per cent.
On a two-party preferred basis, Labor has extended its lead to 53–47, a result that would likely see it form a minority government on Saturday.
When voters were asked the most important reasons to oppose a candidate, those polled indicated Donald Trump as their biggest influence.
The cost of nuclear energy also emerged as a key concern.
