Labor to reveal 2035 climate target by September deadline
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell has revealed the federal government is likely to come up with its 2035 climate target closer to a deadline of this September.
“There has been speculation the government could opt for a target as high as a 75 per cent reduction in 2005 emissions by 2035,” he said.
“A consultation paper the Climate Change Authority put out some time ago suggested a target of 65-75 per cent – I’m told, as things stand, 65 is a more likely target than 75 per cent in terms of an emissions reduction goal.”
