Labor urged to ‘pay back the debt’ with productivity push
Geologist Ian Plimer says the unions have already got their hand up looking to “screw employers even more”.
Some of Australia’s largest companies, including Rio Tinto and Wesfarmers, are calling on Labor to use its massive election win to boost productivity.
“Basically, the productivity is what is going to pay back the debt that this country has got,” Mr Plimer said.
“Unless you have got great productivity, a lot of people working – we cannot afford the welfare and we cannot afford the debt.”
