Liberals now face an ‘identity problem’ following major election defeat
Former Labor minister Joel Fitzgibbon claims the Liberals have an “identity problem” after Labor secured a historic win in the 2025 federal election.
Peter Dutton has lost his Queensland seat of Dickson to Labor, leaving the Liberals to now look for his next successor.
“They’ve got some problems – they got a policy problem, they got a personnel problem, they’ve lost a lot of good people, and, more particularly, they’ve got an identity problem,” Mr Fitzgibbon told Sky News Australia.
“I’m just not sure what the Liberal Party stands for now.”
