Luthuli Inquest | Retired outpatient clerk testifies
A retired outpatient clerk who worked at Stanger Hospital when Chief Albert Luthuli died has told the Pietermaritzburg High Court that he had no knowledge of the first inquest into Luthuli’s death in 1967.
Mohamed Manjoo, who is testifying in the reopened inquest into Luthuli’s death, was one of the first people to see Luthuli in the hospital.
Manjoo told the court that if he had been called to testify in the initial inquest, his evidence would have been telling.
Luthuli died at Stanger Hospital after being reportedly struck by a goods train in Groutville, KwaZulu-Natal.
