Luthuli, Mxenge inquests I Court to revisit Luthuli, Mxenge cases
The inquests into the killing of renowned human rights lawyer Griffiths Mxenge and the death of Chief Albert Luthuli have reopened at the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
Former chief of the Zulu tribe in Groutville, Luthuli, is said to have died in 1967 after being run over by a train.
However, no one has ever been held accountable for his death.
Meanwhile, Butana Nofemela, David Tshikalange, and Dirk Coetzee were convicted of stabbing Mxenge to death.
The three men were granted amnesty by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, TRC, before they could be sentenced.
