Matt Canavan calls to end the ‘tyranny of groupthink’ in Australia
Queensland Senator Matt Canavan discusses why he is vying for the leadership of the Nationals Party.
Mr Canavan on Friday confirmed he will run for the Nationals leadership when the party room meets on Monday in Canberra amid Jacinta Nampijinpa Price’s defection to the Liberals.
“I am running because I think we have to end the tyranny of groupthink in our country,” he said.
“The Australian people deserve a choice – a proper choice – I don’t think we got that at the election because I felt, especially in the Nationals Party, we pulled our punches.”
