Matt Canavan fights to end Nationals’ support of ‘ridiculous’ net zero policy ‘ruining’ Australia
Nationals Senator Matt Canavan claims he believes the party has “moved the debate”, particularly on its net zero policy, following the leadership contest.
“I didn’t really run to become leader; I ran to end our ridiculous support of this crazy idea of net zero,” he told Sky News Australia.
“Now, obviously, that fight continues; haven’t quite got there yet, but I had good conversations with my colleagues about that. I’m sure there will be a reflection on that policy at some point while we’re in Opposition here.”
Mr Canavan claimed net zero is “ruining” Australia as it “deindustrialises” the country.
