Melanoma is rising fast — So why are so many Canadians still skipping sunscreen?
A new Canadian-led study published in the British Medical Journal finds melanoma rates are on the rise, with younger Canadians falling behind on basic sun safety.
Experts say a culture that still sees tanning as attractive and the failure to regularly use sunscreen is contributing to a projected 17 per cent spike in melanoma cases in Canada this year.
Researchers are now calling for urgent public health action and stronger government prevention efforts to address the growing burden of skin cancer.
